5 sustainable essentials for a newborn (tested)
On November 24, 2022 by marghevivianiAre you excited about the baby arriving in your family? And maybe you already start searching for the best solutions for the bed, stroller, and diapers. First of all my congratulations 🙂 Then go ahead and take a look at my post where I will give my honest feedback about 5 sustainable essentials for newborn, which I tried myself and am ready to recommend. In a couple of more months, I am going to become a mother for a second time. And even though I got many presents from our friends who already have bigger kids, there are still a few things I was needing to buy. And here I will talk about sustainable solutions for new parents according to my own experience. I don’t like the concept that you have to buy new things every three months, as the baby grows. But I like the concept of buying something useful that will last years. Better to invest in quality and durability. I won’t add dresses to this list as I prefer to take already used dresses from my friends, as all the baby clothes remain almost new after use. And in this post, I wanna share 5 sustainable essentials for a newborn baby with links where you can buy them. I attached two links: one for stores in the US and one for Italy. Keep in mind that Black Friday is arriving and you might catch good discounts. But don’t worry if you aren’t in time, before Christmas there will be a huge sale again. Read moreSustainable lifestyle. I’ll give you a very honest opinion on each of them 🙂 Go ahead and take a look! 1. Baby crib up to 10 years old US | Italy Read moreYoga during pregnancy for normal deliveryI fell in love with the concept of a baby crib 7 in 1 which you can use up to 10 years old and even more! Unfortunately, I didn’t find the same model for the US, but I substituted it with another similar brand which also can be used until 10 years old, it has just fewer ways of transformation. Of course, it makes a lot of sense to buy one bed and use it for 10 years, instead of buying a “next-to-me”, baby crib, then a bad one for a bigger kid. Plus it has a very nice rounded aesthetic look. 2. Sling Baby Bjorn US | Italy This sling you can use only until 1 year old, but I don’t see it as a problem as I didn’t want to carry my kid on me all the time. I was using this sling exactly until my first daughter turned one and I am completely happy about it. Moreover, at that time, we were living in Bali, the paradise place where you won’t use your stroller, basically never. So I carried my girl on me all the time. I tried also wrap slings, ring slings and other more complex slings, but to Baby Bjorn I give all 5 stars. It’s easy to use without the help of anybody, has simple and secure connections, comfortable for you as for your baby. And my favorite discovery is that if a baby fell asleep inside of the sling then it’s super easy to put your baby on the bed and disconnect the belts of the sling without waking up your little one. This sling can use from the first day of your newborn as it has a special fixation for the head. 3. Stroller Yoyo Babyzen US | Italy Another 5-star purchase! Simple and minimalistic look, super comfortable to open and close just with one hand. When it’s closed it take so small space that you can carry it on the board of an airplane with you, which means it won’t bother you while you are traveling. Plus product of Yoyo has excellent quality, which means one stroller can use by all your next kids 🙂 It can be used from 0 to 6+. 4. Washable and reusable diapers US | Italy Ok, this is a great idea, I tried it, It is a sustainable solution for the environment and your wallet. Just imagine how much money you would spend for tons of usual diapers for your newborn, and how much pollution can create for just one baby. But… here is one but. It takes a lot of time to wash them, and is not the simplest solution, as cloth diapers won’t keep your baby dried for a long time, they must be changed more often. So how I did do? I used cloth diapers at home and single-use for sleeping and for going out. After I start teaching my first daughter to use a pot when she turned 7 months old, I didn’t want to use more diapers. After all, this creation was made for the comfort of parents, and the child does not need to stay in diapers until 3 years old. If you decide to use cloth diapers I suggest you buy at least 10-15 of them, do not be overwhelmed washing two times a day 🙂 5. Diaper balm Earth Mama US | Italy I love this brand, as it’s completely natural. I even decided to become their partner to help to spread the concept. To continue the topic of diapers, until you child use them he or she will have irritated skin most of the time. But with the use of this balm and baby powder, I could reach perfection with my daughter’s skin. Recommend it for
Pros and cons of living abroad. Life of an expat
On November 10, 2022 by marghevivianiDoes living abroad will make you happier? Well, it depends from person to person. Many factors will make your life abroad easy or difficult: personal qualities, intentions, expectations, money, courage, and even destiny. Read also: YOGA RETREATS YOU STILL HAVE TIME TO BOOK (IN 2022-23) When I was 13 I felt like I don’t belong in the place where I was living at that time. I wanted to leave everything and go traveling. And my wish was heard: two years later I am preparing bags to fly to Japan. And there was no end: Japan, Thailand, Korea, 6 years in China, one year in Indonesia, and now already two years in Italy. I’d lived in 12 countries in 11 years! Read moreYoga during pregnancy for normal deliveryI can say that it wasn’t always easy. I had many cries during packing, homesickness, discussion with my family, and really hard moments. Together with that, there were peaceful lonely trips, meeting new people, new experiences, and many trials to make me stronger. I recommend giving it a try, even though is not for everyone! In this post, I put all together the positives and negatives I had to experience during all these years. Moreover, in every country, it won’t be the same. For example, I was so happy and balanced living in Asia and completely down when I moved to Italy. My first experience of life as an expat started in Asia. There I went only for work, but then fell in love with it. In total, I spent 8 years in Asia. And there I met my love, which made me move to Italy. So I decided to do some scarifications to be close to my husband, I left my job and family and moved to Europe. Here everything did a backflip, that I wasn’t ready for. I thought that I am a pro at adapting to a new country, but not here. I can even say that almost all the negatives I experienced exactly in Italy. It took me years to get used to living here. But I keep missing my Asia anyway 🙂 Read more17 Ways to avoid burnouts and be happierThe more you travel, the more experience you get and then you start comparing one country with the other. But sometimes it’s better to stop comparing and enjoy the place where you are now. As we say in Russia: “Is better where we aren’t”. And there will be always something that you don’t like, the world is not perfect and you better accept it. Here is my list of pros and cons of living abroad: Pros Cons Get a fresh start Language barrier Try new food Culture shock Learn foreign language Homesickness Make lifelong friends Expensive Experience new culture A lot of paperwork Personal growth You’ll be an outsider Boost your confidence Loneliness Learn to adapt Your favourite things may not be available Everyday as an adventure Tax implications Become more independent It’s difficult to become a citizen Learn what you really need New Social Rules to Adapt to Get a better job* Too difficult to find a job* * In Asia I was working very very well and earning enough money for my living. Instead in Italy, I found a lot of difficulties to earn a little. Takeaway Also, our destiny or our energy can influence the experience of living abroad. For example, my vibrations after Asia was not corresponding with the vibrations of the majority in Italy, and I start having many problems. But after all, as every human, I was able to adapt also to such a diversity of culture. The most important thing is to listen to your own heart. Traveling is not the same thing as immigrating. Before better, if you travel and explore the world, live a little bit there, a little bit here. And one day you will decide where you feel better. Maybe after all your country is the best place to stay 😉 Hope this post was useful. Please feel free to leave a comment below or contact me. Playlist for yoga practice
On September 14, 2022 by marghevivianiIn this post, I share my favorite yoga playlist from Apple music that you can also listen on your computer. Stillness of the mind Traditionally yoga is a spiritual practice, in which silence may feel fit better. Still, yoga is basically about inner silence or rather inner stillness. Patanjali (one of the founding fathers of the yoga philosophy) defines yoga as β Yogas Chitta Vritti Nirodha β. From Sanskrit, this means as important as yoga stilling the mind. You may also call it turning inward or coming home to yourself and your body while the mind quiets. Music can support this turning inward. It can help you to get into that physical and internal inflow. So in this sense, using music doesn’t have to abstract from the yoga tradition. Playing music to support your inflow and soul-searching may be kindly different than how Patanjali intended the yoga sutras when he wrote them down some centuries BC, but we also can not deny how important the world and the way we exercise yoga have changed since also. In my particular experience music is really helpful to find my inner stillness and inflow during my yoga practice. Of course, this is different for everyone, but especially when you’re fluently distracted music can be great to mute background noises. Yoga playlist I would like to remind you that I have opened Online Yoga Studio. And I am offering free yoga session for new yogis registered in my studio. Just check the schedule, choose the lesson you like, register, and then purchase the “Free lesson Pass” and join the lesson π To complete your practice check my Yoga Archive. Camping essentials checklist (tested)
On August 17, 2022 by marghevivianiI remember the times when I was still living in Kamchatka, with my parents we were going camping many times. As for a child is an unforgettable experience: staying close to nature, cooking on a fire, and sleeping with the sounds of a river or an ocean. Kamchatka itself has one of the most beautiful nature on the planet, and I highly recommend visiting it. But this is not the point π Later on, we moved 9000 km away from there and my family continued going out for a weekend with tend until these days. What I loved the most, was that my parents and their friends were always super prepared for even a couple of days staying outside with tend. We had always everything for comfortable leisure. Now I have my own family and my kids, and I still love to do the same. Also, my husband used to do camping for many years. The only thing is a different experience of camping in Italy and Russia. In Italy is prohibited free camping, you must reserve a spot in a special place, but means you will be never alone and really in wild conditions. In Russia, as there is much more free space for everyone, is the way much more easy to organize your free wild experience with friends and night fire. And since I live in Italy my idea of camping changed a little, but not a long time ago I made my Checklist of camping essentials, ether with tend ether with camper-van. In this post below you will find two lists: one is complete I made for our the most comfortable experience, and the second one is super minimalistic and naturally less expensive. I want to ensure you that I did my research on every item in this list, and I found the best solutions in our opinion for the best experience π This post may contain affiliate links, which means that I may receive a commission if you make a purchase using these links. 10 Things to Stop using to Save money and the Planet
On July 27, 2022 by marghevivianiAs the one who cares about saving and protecting the Planet, I created a list of a thing that is better to stop paying for. Plus It will not only help to save the environment but also save you a lot of money. Take it as an informational post, and always try to confirm the information by yourself and take your own decisions. I strongly believe that we must be completely aware of why we are doing some of certain things in this world. This post may contain affiliate links, which means that I may receive a commission if you make a purchase using these links. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. So here is the list: Bottled water More bottled water = more plastic waste. So I don’t need it. In Italy is easy, we get drinking water from the public fountains, and for free! If I wouldn’t have this opportunity I would Invest in a filter machine or buy a bottle with filter, to filter tap water and make it drinkable. There are still few places in the world, where you can drink tap water, but you must be lucky to live there. Cable tv Tv is washing the brain and makes you spend money to wash your brain. So is out of my life. I never had cable TV myself and prefer never have. Instead, we watch paid services like Disney Plus, Netflix, or Amazon Prime, where you can decide what to see. But honestly, after a while, we cancel also all those subscriptions because even there you find limited content. And sometimes I decide to take a break also from smart TV and start reading more books π Disposable dishes and dishcloth, paper towels Another plastic waste. If we talk about the party, I use only washable dishes and napkins. After all we everybody have washing dishes machine and washing machine. The same thing for picnics, I prepare a nice bag with everything I need from the house, but never too much. About paper towels, there is a trick I got from my husband. We save paper towels from the restaurants. I am not joking! Usually, restaurants provide you with these very thick napkins, that you won’t use 100% during your meal, or they give more than you use. And we just save them. I always have in my bag plenty of paper towels and napkins. Haircut, manicure, pedicure I know, this is maybe too much, but we talk here about sustainability, right? So what is wrong with going to the beauty salon? Have you ever noticed how much disposable materials are used while doing your hair colour, or nail polish? Since the pandemic started, a lot! And since that I decided to keep my hair more natural, only using a few products to make them healthy, and maybe natural organic lightening sprays. And manicure I used to do myself since ever. Is not so hard, just need to get used to it. And there is another trick, the less you do a professional manicure, the stronger your nail will become, and the less attention they will need. More over, In Europe I find it as very expensive service. So I also save money! Gym membership Only once did I have a gym membership, but I was not able to use it completely, as I was busy, and living in a big city was more convenient to train at home by myself. There are plenty of Youtube channels where you can train. This will radically save you money as the gym membership usually are yearly, and is easy to lose many days, or months of training because of some personal situations. So this trick doesn’t have much with environment, but for sure save your money. Plastic bags There are still some countries that pack fruits in plastic bags. In Europe, I guess, already all countries use biodegradable bags in every supermarket or local shop. I just keep a few shoppers in the car in case of grocery shopping. This habit not only saves the environment from the excess plastic in nature but also saves you money. Pre-packaged food It’s already many years since I don’t buy pre-packaged foods. I know is super convenient: you buy it already ready, bring it home, warm it up and us ready to consume. When I was living in China it was super normal for everyone, as in a big city with there is no time for cooking. There are even new apartments that don’t consist of a kitchen anymore. But after studying more and traveling in poor countries, I realised that I have to stop doing it. First of all, those foods packaging is made exclusively from plastic, which means like this we create only more unuseful waste. More, there is another thing: food has its vital energy, and this healthy and positive energy keeps only for three hours after being prepared. So, pre-packaged food is also food without any healthy message in it. Take-away food and drinks, coffee Same story, living in China it was normal for me: to buy two-three cups of coffee from Starbucks, and order takeaway food home from the workplace. Now I see that there are many companies start using paper or biodegradable packaging, but they are really few. In Italy is easy, everyone takes coffee at the bar and then goes to work, it’s also a nice habit to slow down for a moment, instead of running to work and drinking your coffee on the way. Only thing I keep taking away is pizza, as is packaged in a paper box. Toys made from plastic Here is not much to say. I even don’t like to see my daughter playing with plastic toys. So all the toys she has are made generally from wood. The only plastic toy she has was presented to her in Bali by a local girl. There, unfortunately, is normal to use only plastic things everywhere.
Have you heard about Ayurveda?
On July 4, 2022 by marghevivianiToday I would like to introduce to you Ayurveda – ancient Indian medical science. You will find me talking a lot about it in future posts. I discovered Ayurveda when I was 19, at the same moment when I started practicing yoga, as I found after this two go ever together. At that period I was suffering from very bad skin problems, such as eczema and psoriasis. I visited all the best dermatologists in my city, and each of them was making me a new diagnosis and giving me a new medicine. But no one was working, but only calming my symptoms. And I tried to dig deeper to find a real problem inside of my body, as the skin is a mirror of what is going on inside of you. Here, Ayurveda helped me to never again see these skin troubles, and I use Ayurveda in everyday life since then. In this post I use help of one of my favourite book Practical Ayurveda by Swami Sivananda. Read also Sattvic diet and what is Sattva. This post may contain affiliate links, which means that I may receive a commission if you make a purchase using these links. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Meaning of Ayurveda Ayurveda from Sanskrit means “science of life” and is comprised of a vast body of information about healthy living and treating disease. It covers areas of medicine that range from psychology to surgery, and pediatrics to geriatrics. Originally passed on through word of mouth, Ayurvedic knowledge was eventually written down in the ancient Indian language Sanskrit. Charaka, Sushruta, and Vagbhata are the authors of the three main classical Ayurvedic scriptures. Ayurveda and yoga Ayurveda and yoga are two sisters sciences that both come from the same philosophy. However, Ayurveda focuses primarily on the goal of dharma (living the right way), while yoga focuses primarily on the goal of moksha (enlightenment). Both are practical systems with a holistic perspective – people are seen as beings with a unified body, mind, and consciousness. Ayurveda is the knowledge of happy and unhappy, a good and a bad life, and that which contributes to those four aspects.” Charaka Ayurveda and the body There are four aspects of the body that need to be kept in balance in order to maintain good health – these are the doshas, the dhatus, malas, and agni. Doshas (energies) The three doshas are energies present within the body and mind. Maintaining the balance of each dosha allows the body systems to work effectively. Malas (waste) The body’s excretions – urine, stool and sweat – are called malas. passing them in a timely manner helps keep the body balanced, as otherwise they build up and can cause disease. Dhatus (tissues) The seven dhatus are the tissues that make up the body’s physical form. Healthy dhatus allow the body to produce ojas, a form of energy that helps the body support prana (vital energy) and protects the tissues from damage. Agni (fire) The main form of agni is the body’s digestive fire. Healthy agni allows food to be digested so that strong tissues can be formed. It also prevents the build-up of ama, undigested food that acts as a toxin and leads to disease. The three Doshas The doshas are energies that pervade the body and mind, each with different functions. All of the doshas can be found in everybody, but different people have more of some doshas that others – this determines a person’s constitution. Vata dosha – wind & ether The vata constitution is predominantly characterised by movement. The vata mind is sensitive and creative. This leads to a slender build and active body functions, such as quick speech. The Vata mind The Vata body Pitta dosha – fire & water Clarity and heat characterise the pitta mind and body. This leads to an ambitious mind with a sharp intellect, and an athletic build with intense body functions, such as an active metabolism. The Pitta mind The Pitta body Kapha Dosha – earth & water The Kapha mind The Kapha body Here you can take your Dosha quiz to find out which dosha you have predominated. I also suggest you to read SATTVIC DIET AND WHAT IS SATTVA. Please let me know in the comments below which Dosha you are, I am curious to know π Me for example Vata and my husband is Pitta. In next posts I will talk more about each dosha and its recommendations. I have to stop for today π Let’s stay in touch! Follow up my Instagram here and feel free to ask me any question. Yours Marghe

How did I treat Covid at home
On January 31, 2022 by marghevivianiLast year my husband got Covid two times, and he had also heavy symptoms. Here I would like to share how we was able to treat Covid at home without going to the farmacy and calling a doctor. 1. Fasting You can call it fasting, or detox. But I use this tool since I was working as a model in China. My goal is not to lose weight but to cleanse my body. Usually once in two weeks, I have one to three days of fasting. Means I spent these days not eating at all, but only drinking. I usually drink water, teas, and fresh juices. Of course, it will help you to lose a few kilos, but remember that the main goal is detoxications. But I want to warn you. If you have never done fasting, or you did but a too long time ago, remember to start slowly. Firstly you should prepare your body, which means for a couple of months before starting you should switch to a vegetarian or better vegan diet. Why? Because if you start fasting without any preparation, your body will throw away all the toxins altogether. That means that instead of detoxication you will get intoxication. And one more thing, before you fast I recommend you to read this small book by Paul Bragg “Miracle of Fasting”. There you will find all the useful information to run your fasting safely. Subscribe to my blog and I will share this book with you! 2. Vegan diet The best way to treat Covid at home is to change your diet. As you guys know, I am a vegetarian since I got pregnant. But from August 2021 I decided to be more vegan. We eliminated dairy products in our family. This means we don’t eat cheeses, milk, and yogurt. But what we eat are tofu, soya milk yogurts, and different kinds of beans. We might still eat eggs, but very rare. As many studies show, people who follow a vegan diet are at lower risks of having Covid complications. People following a vegan diet have a stronger immune system because they consume a lot of vegetables and beans, and no dairy products. And as we know, diary products create a lot of mucus in the body. I won’t go so far, you always can study this information at your own pace π I leave here also this Vegan Cook Book with over than 100 plant recipes. 3. Big mounts of Vitamins Not all the vitamins. With all my family during the entire winter, we are taking Vitamins C, D, B, E, and zinc. And now while being sick I take all the same but ten times more. 4. Garlic Garlic is the strongest natural antibiotic. Is the first thing you must remember to treat Covid at home. And usually, if you are with positive test your doctor will tell you to take antibiotics straight away. Even in my case, with small symptoms, I got the same recommendations. But instead of that, I simply added two-three fresh cloves of garlic to my meal for a few days. Once I started with garlic my fever finished and I started feeling much better. The same thing did my husband, when he was sick he was eating even more garlic than me, and he healed! Only one tip, if you decide to heal with garlic ask your partner to eat it too. Because if only one will eat, the other will suffer the smell too much π 5. Yoga Here I won’t talk much, Yoga is good for everything, from everything. Simply in the moment of having Covid, I change my practice, to make it more gentle and added more breathing exercises. You can also check this post How yoga changed my life. The story of a Yoga Teacher 6. Neti Pot Neti Pot is an Indian ceramic pot, used to clean the nostrils. Is one of the Hatha Yoga cleaning techniques called Shatkarmas. You add warm salty water to the pot and make the water run from one nostril to the other. I started with this technique at the same time as of August 2021. I do it as often as possible, almost every morning. Conclusion I shared with you my tricks to prevent the heavy covid situation. And now being covid positive I only confirm to myself that I did a good job, and I proved that my body doesn’t need a heavy injection, that my body is strong enough to pass it as a simple seasonal cold. Feel free to share your tips in the comments or contact me straight away. Take care of yourself and your loved one! Your Marghe.
To be a model. Lessons Iβve learned during my career
On June 11, 2021 by marghevivianiI had my first modelling experience when I was 5 years old. Then I restarted at 13 and at my 15 I got my first contract in Tokyo. I didnβt take it seriously, because I didnβt even gain. But all of the sudden it became a job of my life. After passing a model school and creating a model career those are the lessons I learned for my whole life. They are not useful only for a model, absolutely not, but for every girl or woman in general. 1. Straight back is the key to success It gives confidence. But confidence is the way to be successful. Our body most of the time speaks for us, we express emotions and feelings through the body. But at the same time by the positions and movements, we can change negative feelings and emotions to positives. To me, it took years of yoga to open my chest and feeling comfortable with a straight back. 2. Never stop studying To be a model doesnβt mean to stop studying. Means to be updated on the news, to be educated, intelligent, to have a sense of humor, etc. The more interesting person you are, the more people wanna work with you. 3. Practice a confident walking To walk confidently on high-heels you must practice… a lot. Not only models, I think all women must be able to flow while wearing high heels. Before my first walk at the fashion show, I took plenty of classes in our model school. 4. Being in good shape but healthy Is not welcome to be extremely skinny, or sick-looking. Better to be concentrated on a balanced diet and at least a minimum amount of exercise. I 5. Competition doesnβt exist Everyone is perfect, in her way. We are all different, and we are all beautiful. 6. Know your body Means knowing what fits you or not, knowing your best angles and which poses are the best for you. Take your time to play in front of the mirror and explore your body. We are girls after all and we have complete rights to do that π 7. Smile with eyes Itβs very simple. Only what you need is to create a light inside of you. It can be a pleasant memory or feeling. This skill not only important for pictures but also to communicate with other people. 8. We can do much more than we think Just not be scared, just let it flow and you will see. When we used to do more it becomes very natural. 9. Be happy without thinking of money Less you think for the money and the more you enjoy what you are doing, the more money you get. The fact of my life. If you are thinking to try to become a model, check this website modelmagement.com, there you will find many tips and even to find an agency near your city, or even start woking straight away by applying for online castings. Please feel free to leave your comments or contact me here π Wish you a great day, Yours Marghe.
